Black Hole of Calcutta

 The Black hole of Calcutta refers to a room in a British fort in Calcutta, India. The  fort was captured by Indians, and they locked many prisoners into a small room roughly 14 by 18 feet. A disputed number of prisoners suffocated, and that room became known as the Black Hole of Calcutta. This event took place in 1756.
